TV-Tuner on ebay.de

Those of you looking to extend your Comand 2.0 with Video Input, there is a TV-Tuner going for the a good price on ebay.de

http://cgi.ebay.de/TV-Tuner-Becker-BE6022-fuer-Mercedes-Benz_W0QQitemZ4565221914QQcategoryZ38781QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

The unusual thing here is that the dual arial and cables are all included , so no extra costs to connect up to the command......

This makes the tuner itself only 150 Euros at the moment!.

RE: TV-Tuner on ebay.de

Just to give you a proce check, Here are 2 previous auctions to compare with...

A220 820 08 97: 462 Euros
--------------------------
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4559978652&rd=1&sspage name=STRK%3AMEDW%3AIT&rd=1

A220 820 08 97: 121 Euros (I bought this one)
--------------------------
<<< I can't seem to bring up the URL anymore>>>
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4564373582&rd=1&sspage name=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Here is another one still going on ebay .... but it requires 2 cables to connect via chinch (It's the older one .... beware US MCS ML Owners!)

http://cgi.ebay.de/TV-Tuner-fuer-MB-Comand-System-mit-Video-Eingang_W0QQitemZ4566133641QQcategoryZ76084QQssPag eNameZWD9VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

NOTE: The only TV_Tuners that work with ML's are those that start with the partno A220.....The latest 4:3 one has 2 rows of chinch to connect external video/audio devices. All of them have connectors to support 2 rear screens.

220 820 15 97 (oldest model)
220 820 00 97 (older than ... 08 97)
220 820 08 97 (new with Chinch) (up to. 9.2002, MB sells for 1088 Euro or 871 exchange for a broken one)
220 820 18 97 (New for 16:9) works for all old Comands. (9.2002 - 9.2003)

RE: TV-Tuner on ebay.de

do you have this in your ML? The Comand it has a drive in it and the video input connects to the MCS and you can watch video on the MCS? Any write ups on the install for the ML?

RE: TV-Tuner on ebay.de

Yes I have the "A220 820 08 97" one. I am in the process of doing a write up, but got side tracked doing the AUX Glovebox connector.

I am taking pics for the pin install, pin connectors, etc....

After the install you need to switch it on in the command by using a Star Computer (It is switched off by default,...as well as all other goody options like "rear monitor, TV-ON-THE-MOVE [4 submenus options] ).

MAKING THE COMAND RECOGNIZE THE TUNER
-------------------------------------
The point to consider with turning the TV option on (visit the dealer - a 5min job) is that the Star Software in the dealer has been updated in 06-2002 to disable all TV-ON-THE-MOVE operations if the TV is turned on. This means that you need to find a Star Computer with software prior to 06-2002 (megacomm.de, navisworld, audiocomp, etc... have one just for this purpose), or send in your Unit to get it done.

I am trying to make my own diag computer using:-

1. Redhat LInux Laptop
2. Installation of Freediag OBDII software (Developed by richard)
3. Andy Whittakers PC-ML Connector (Serial<->OBDII)

There is then a small mod to the harness so that Freediag can talk to the "Comand" unit!.

PS: If you don't want TV-ON-THE-MOVE (Illegal in the US I guess, activate at your own peril) , then you just need to get it turned on at the stealer.

Will post my install when it is all Finished....

Peter's referring to COMAND integration with TV tuner. It is possible with MCS but it's a custom job - there are a few companies that will do this for you if you send the MCS to them for modification.
