RE: Admit if you did not know about this feature...
I admit it, I had no idea. I went home last night a tried it. So kwel.
Hey Rudeney: I couldn't agree with you more. Just like the 3 flasher. Also, if press the Key/remote control twice front and rear interior light go on (plus all door unlock). Key it once to open the driver door and only the front interior lights turn on.

No..l didn't.....l tried it last night...it was thoughtful...but really, for the close to 5 years that l have owned a M-Class...l lived without it..l would have put more thought into the fuel pump, or harmonic balancer's, or door lock actuator's..instead of something that would benefit you, for less than a second.....[;)]

RE: Admit if you did not know about this feature...
Since someone mentioned the interior lights - has everyone already identified the other interior light feature... only upon turning the car off this time?
Daylight hours - you drive the car around and shut it off... no interior lights illuminate (before door opening).
Nightime hours - you drive around with your headlights on and then shut the car off... interior lights now illuminate (when key is turned off before any doors are opened). The car "knows" that it's dark outside and gives you some exit lighting.
Don't know what the deal is if you have automatic lights (assuming that's a feature on some later models).
RE: Admit if you did not know about this feature...
On MY2002+ ML’s there is a light sensor for the automatic headlights. On prior models, the only way it knows to turn on the courtesy lights is if the headlights were manually switched on since the last engine start. In my case, I always use my headlights, so my courtesy lights always illuminate.
