I now only have to push against the tension resistance for 0.5-1.0 seconds or so--I guess it is simply a matter of letting go as soon as I want or just continuing to hold it in place for no real reason...very cool feature and thanks for sharing. This will save wear and tear on my ligaments. [:D]
LMAO ... wear and tear on your ligaments. [:D] That made my day!

RE: Admit if you did not know about this feature...
It 's purpose is to control emmissions.
The vehicle will never load up the cyclinders with fuel b/c of a no start, then fire up rich on the second try.
So if you go to start the car then decide not to go out, you can't change your mind half way through. We all know the ML will never exhibit a mechanical no start. LOL

And for the $64k question, what's the offical name for this feature[?]
AutoStart?
My $64K guess.
StartMatic would be more in line with MB nomenclature... [:D]
Oh, and welcome to last decade. I knew about this within a month of taking delivery, in 1998. [:0]

I guess that makes me about 2 weeks ahead of you then doesn't it? [}:)] Considering I just got mine almost 2 weeks ago.
RE: Admit if you did not know about this feature...
I've actually found this feature on some other makes like GM. I have tried it on my wife's Audi and it does not work, but the Cayenne loaner I had last month did do it. My parents’ Lexus does not.
By the way, I also assume everyone knows about TouchTurn? [:)]
RE: Admit if you did not know about this feature...
TouchTurn is the three-flash function of the turn signal. When changing lanes, instead of holding the turn signal stalk to, you can just briefly tap it and it will give you three flashes.
