need advice on ML-320

Hello.
Im new here. I was happy to find this kind of place on the net to talk with people who know this car very well.
Well, i dont have it yet. I am getting ready to buy ML-320 2000, and i want it so much, i can not sleep.
But, only what i know about this car, that it is looking too good, and I love it. I have several questions regarding this car, they might be a stupid questions, but may be you will be able to answer.
1.I am not rich, and i know that in different states this car is running for different prices. I wont hesitate to fly almost anywhere to buy my car, so I am looking for a deal on this car. In which state i can find the best deal (excluding North states)?
2.How much should i pay for ML320 2000 with 70k, and Nav system, and phone integrated white car?
3. Is this model/year have skyview, or is this optional?
4. As i understood there is some kind of issue with 70k on this car. Is this a point, after wich this car is having bunch of problems?
thank you.

RE: need advice on ML-320

Hi,
I would check into the aftermarket nav systems to see what is out there that integrates with phones (via bluetooth maybe) and an ipod or other mp3 player before I bought another oem nav unit.

I would go www.mbusa.com to find a certified Pre owned ML. or www.autotrader.com. For the options you are seeking.... Nav, and integrated phone... I would buy the 2000 or newer ML430 or ML500 model because they have the options you want as standard equipment. Also keep in mind the ML is a high maintenance vehicle.

RE: need advice on ML-320

To give you an idea on price, I just bought my '01 ML320 in January (Chicagoland area).

Maroon (bordeaux red or whatever they call it)
Sand Interior
Standard Sunroof
Heated Leather
Stock Bose 6 CD Changer/ Navigation Unit
Cargo Area Privacy Cover
28,800 miles
$21,200

It cost me an extra $2500 for an extended warranty up to 7 years or 125,000 miles. I now have over 50,000 miles on it and no major problems yet. My friend has a 98 ML320 that has 77,000 miles - no major problems on his either.

RE: need advice on ML-320

There are about 30 known issues for pre 2002 MLs. Everything from engine and transmission issues to cosmetic issues. Some people never experience any problems, others have experienced nearly all of the problems. Buying a certified pre-owned ML with an extended warranty is great insurance for this vehicle.

2004 seems to be the year with the best quality ratings.

As previously mentioned an ML 430 or ML 500 come standard with the options you seek, except the skyview sunroof, which was a rare option of 2001 and earlier models. If the skyview is a must, then search for a 2001 ML 430 with skyview.

RE: need advice on ML-320

oh thank you so much for answers.
yes skyview is the one of the major reasons why i want this car, so it must :)
2 more question and i wont bother you :)
1.Is phone integration system (blue touth) and navigation system can be added to M-Class to any year from 1998-2002?
2. Is ML-430 has V8 only, or we can find also V6?

Navigation can be added. Do a search. There are two different OEM systems. Bluetooth is not avaialble. Other phone integration systems are possible, but none are very robust. A top quality aftermarket system will give you better navigation, phone integration, and other options. So, if you get the 320, then go with an aftermarket system. If you get the 430, then just go with OEM, since it already has almost everything you need standard.

430 is a V8. 320 is a V6.
