smoother ride

recently i noticed that my ml doesnt have such a smooth ride anymore. its starting to get real bumpy. is there anything i can do to give a more comfort ride? i know it is a suv and you can never really get a smooth ride but is there anything to help?

Check your tire pressures, however as your tires get worn the ride quality also decreases. I noticed this to be the case especially with the Continental 4X4 Contacts.

RE: smoother ride

New set of Michelin X-Terrains is a good cure for all kinds of rough rides, road noise etc.

I second that [:)]. My only complaint with the X-Terrains is that wet weather grip at the limits could be higher. I cannot tackle corners as confidently in the rain as I could before without getting understeer and having ESP intervene.

RE: smoother ride

Is it bouncy or just bumpy? If bouncy, replace shocks, but if not just do the bushings.

Yes, very definitely. However we do not know what model year your ML is, which is why we encourage all BenzWorld participants to fill out the profile information in full.

Bushings? I'm curious as to what those might be that would affect the ride.

RE: smoother ride

Worn bushings= more play between suspension components.
Loose components= you do the math.
Any car goes smooth on smooth roads. Bad characteristics manifest over unfavorable road surfaces, especially on a truck.
