I have Brabus Monoblock IV rims ET37 , and YOKOHAMA AVS V801. Compared to my standard Winter setup, the car is all over the place!. Seems to follow any track on the road it finds (Swim effect).
Brabus & my local Dealer says this behaviour is normal. Don't like it though, and will need to look for something to counteract this!.
294/40/20 Dunlop SP9000's wrapped around 20X10 Iforged wheels.
As others have mentioned, ride does get rougher but I would call it an uncomfortable ride but you definitly want to avoid any decent sized bumps or ruts in the road...but who doesn't avoid them anyway??
I am trying to figure if I can fit a larger (Not width, I want more height on the tire to fill out more of the wheel wells) tires on my summer wheels without effecting the ML... might do it next year.
For safety sake the golden rule is that when you increase stock wheel size by X2 you MUST increase your brake disk diameter - or you defy the vehicle's design thresholds and create an unsafe situation.
BTW - the 'swim' effect is also know sometimes as 'bumpsteer' and is common among lower profile tires - there is usually a steering brace that is needed to correct this and at highway speeds this characteristic can be dangerous. I would consult the AMG house or see if there is an additional brace available from a dealer.
