Hy everybody... I kinda got into trouble! I hit a barrier with my 2005 ML 500 and I broke the rear window plus bended the rear bumper... I tryed to find a quote for these parts on-line but I had no luck! I will have to take the car to the dealer to get it fixed, but I was hoping I could get an ideea of how much it would be before I take it there! If anyone has had similar problems, please respond back! Thank you so much!
RE: Please advise: price quotes for 2005 MB ML 500
My wife hit a pole in a parking garage and it stayed on our insurance for 3 years. I am guessing that the rates jumped 10%(it was a bad memory-I tried to forget) With the 1000 deductable, the insurance will cover evertyhing but the $1000.00. Your repair may cost you $3000-$4000, depending on the level of damage.[:(] There are ways around the deductable, but thats another story for another time[8)] Make sure that you use a reputable company, because you want everything to be repaired according to specs.(fit and finish)
There is good and bad to having a high deductable. The good is that you have lower rates, the bad is that when you make a claim, you have to fork over the high amount. I guess its like buying a manual transmission, to save money on a car purchase. Its all good until you have to replace the clutch[|)]

Thank you so much for your reply! I forgot to mention in the first post that this is not my car... I work for this family and they let me drive their car... When we discussed this subject a while ago they told me they have a deductible of 1000$ and in case I get into an accident this is what I'll have to pay... but now, they say this is not that big to get it fixed with the insurance and if they do, their rates will increase... so I'll have to pay for all the repairs no matter how much it costs... so I'm in a really difficult position... they just had the car taken to the dealer and they couldn't give us a price of the estimate yet but they said the rear window will have to be replaced with all the mechanical in it (brake light and navidgation system) and the scratches on the bumper can be buffed out and repainted! So I'm sure it's gonna be really pricy... I'm gonna try to discuss it with the family and try to convince them to go with the insurance, but I have no clue how the insurance works and how high the rates are gonna increase... So you did mentioned that having a higher deductible gives u lower rates, but what happens when u claim the insurance? Can it go up more than 10%? Again thank you so much for giving me an advice!

I forgot to ask above: what did u mean by "There are ways around the deductable" and "when you make a claim, you have to fork over the high amount"? I'm ok with paying the deductible of 1000$, but I'm afraid it's gonna be way more than that if they won't use their insurance! Thanx again!

First of all, I assume that since you work for the owner of the vehicle, you are probably not in much of a position to “haggle over this for fear of losing your job. If that’s not the case, then you might want to consider negotiating with the owner for you having the work done and choosing the lowest estimate. Often, independent body shops will charge less for cash customers if you negotiate a bit.
I assume you are in the US (?) in which case your own insurance will not cover the claim as insurance is for the vehicle and not for the driver. What will happen is the owner’s insurance will pay, and then they will contact you for payment (this is called a subrogation claim). You can then turn this claim over to your own insurance company under your liability policy, which usually has no deductible.
Of course there is a chance your insurance company will raise your rates. If you did not get a police report for the accident, and you have an otherwise clean driving record, you could also threaten to change insurance companies. The reason being that the new insurance company will only know of any claims based on your driving record. Because of this, and if this is your first and only blemish on your driving record, your current insurance company might not raise rates.
