Brushed Aluminum Roof Rails

Does anyone know if you can purchase Brushed Aluminum Roof Rails seperately? And How Much? I was thinking of replacing the black one on my 2003 ML 500

RE: Brushed Aluminum Roof Rails

Someone mentioned that the black rails are actually painted aluminum. My guess is that the paint could be “polished off to reveal the silver-colored aluminum underneath. Anyone ever had any paint to peal off of their rails to verify this?

RE: Brushed Aluminum Roof Rails

Any update on either a reasonable source to purchase the aluminum roof rails (non-painted) or to strip the existing ones?

At this point, I would have thougt it would have received the same level of attention as painting/chroming the front grill. I am still holding out hope on the ML experts for a solution.

Thanks.

RE: Brushed Aluminum Roof Rails

Any facility that can bight anodize the rails will be able to strip the powder coat too. In fact they probably will prefer to do it themselves. I would expect that it would be less than $200. Oh, don't show up in your MB or tell them what it came off of. Tell them it came off a boat.

RE: Brushed Aluminum Roof Rails

Thanks for the reply. Would that type of service to strip then refresh/brush the aluminum roof rails be provided by a body shop?

can you post pics of this mod? The official MB photo floating around for the 2005 ML is not that great. I'd love to see a sunny side shot of anyone that has done this mod...Thanks
