Trouble

My 98 ML320 is stalling. It will run fine for a while but when I stop at a light and then attempt to go the engine will die. It won't restart for about twenty minutes and then it will start like nothing is wrong.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts?

RE: Trouble

Fuel pump would be the prime suspect for the 98 model year ML. Has the fuel pump been updated (MB has an updated fuel pump for this MY)?

RE: Trouble

The fuel pump was replaced in 2003. The only thing that makes me think it isn't the fuel pump is that it doesn't sputter or give any indication that anything is wrong, it just dies. It is almost like it is suddenly "unplugged".

I'd have it checked anyway. When mine went bad, it also wouldn't restart for 20 minutes. That gave the defective fuel pump time to cool off.

RE: Trouble

I will say fuel pump, too. I am on my third fuel pump on my ML and the symptoms are similar to that when the fuel pump overheats and takes a while before it starts to work again..

Good luck..
