Headlight bulb replacement

Hello:

Can anybody tell me how to do this? It seems really tight behind the headlight housing there.

The car is a 1999 ML430 with halogen bulbs.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Headlight bulb replacement

The driver side is tougher than the passenger side to start with. The low beams are the upper ones, not what one would think. At least I did not.
There is a cover that protects the connections. there is a tap at the top in the center, push down an away from you (I am guessing that you are standing in front of the vehicle). There is a spring load clip, (top and bottom) squeeze them together. pull the bulb and connect out pull the bulb off the connector.) try hard not to touch the bulb surface on the new bulb (the oils in your skin will speed up the burnout of the new bulb) ......reverse the process.

What I did was just take the headlights out then changed them. Its very easy to take out.Just pop the filler panel under the lights and unscrew the two bolts and then unbolt the one on top of the lights.I have an 02 but should be the same as your 98.
