Ha.

Yes. I had to borrow a hammer from Beto to break my window (let my co-pilot break it...I couldn't do it) after I locked my keys in my ML out on a sand dune in the middle of Death Valley.
Love it Green! Love the scratching of the undercarriage going over that huge ass rock. And after that seeing the broken window! How much did that roof carriage cost you? Great video!
Dude, our vehicles are extremely good off-road. I concur, you can't compare it against a Jeep or Land Rover, but right there if we are comparing oem stuff.
Check Wolfang's page, you see lots of info, and then click on the "Death Valley Challenge", you'll see GreenM3 and I competing against other trucks, and we were stock, except for tires, and HD Bilsteins shox in the front of my truck, I don't remember if Dave had any suspension upgrades back then.
You can join us in July at the Nevada Trophy in Reno, not too far from Oregon.
My best memory so far is when I had two guys driving a 4x4 Ford Bronco II jumping in my car for a hill climb to a mine in the middle of the desert. My truck got kind of stuck going up, so they shaked their heads and started opening the doors, when I switched to low range and started crawling over the rocks and boulder and kicking up lots of dirt. They looked at me like saying "I never thought a MB could do that, and if it was mine I won't me getting dirt on it" Awesome!![8D]

Just some food for thought .. one of my friends has a 03 Discovery Series 2 and I can go anywhere he goes until he locks his diffs. LOL .. But seriously, out trucks are very capable, and many people just dont believe or know it!

What kind of mac do you use?
That was the sound of my side rails. The window is the one I had to break to get back in the car after I locked myself out. There was no damage to the ML whatsoever. The repair you see is a potato chip bag and duct tape.
My rack is a Yakima LoadWarrior with the extension. Beto (Victor) has the MegaWarrior which is a bit wider.

go to products, then gear baskets
When you get all of the crossbars, etc., etc. it adds up really fast.
I currently have a Dual 1GHZ G4 tower and a 23" HD Cinema Display as my main system. 15" G4 Powerbook for work. Wife has an iBook and the kids have the old slot loading iMacs. Airport netwrok, etc.
At home we have 2 Powerbook 17" and we just got a Dual G5 machine. here at the dorm its all PC's. Dual Xeon Server. My Desktop 2.6 OC to 2.8p4, and my laptop a Dell XPS 3.4 Ghz.
Oh, how sweet, all Mac users, and Dave's "happy mac family"...[:p]
Yeah, I have the megawarrior, tire carrier, lift jack carrier, and aux lights brackets with hella driving lights. Lost the grille guard and side rails because of ground clearance issues.
What's the deal with AVE? Are they going to develop something for ML's?
BK Hawk, why did you pay $50k for a ML320?

Oops, I thought it was a 320, but yours is a 99.
Nice computer set up, specially for your line of work.
I had a black one before, and it was awesome after off-roading, no scratches anyways, and all cover with dirt.

There is a servo used to shift the gears in the transfer case. If that mechanism hasn’t been exercised, it could seize. The best-case scenario in such a failure is that it’s already seized and pressing the Lo-Range button (while in neutral, of course) will result in a blinking light, then no light because the gears fail to move. The worst thing that could happen is that the gears move part of the way, then they seize in which case you are stuck until you get it repaired. You could also experience a failure where you get into Lo-range and then it fails and won’t return to normal gearing, but in that case you could still drive. The best advice is to exercise the system about once a week by switching in and out of Lo-range a few times. Better yet, exercise the whole truck with a little Lo-range off-road driving :-)
