I put a set on my ML430 less than 1000 miles ago. I am happy with them. They are certainly quiet as they advertise. The dusting seems much less than OEM (granted not very many miles to go on). I am surprised at how quickly the OEM pads dust up the wheels.
I installed a set on the front last summer. They work great. VERY little dust and the price was fair. The feel and stopping power seem fine.I asked if there was any upgrade at the dealer for a pad that didn't dust the wheels in 15 miles, nope. I was warned by the dealer not to install anything other than OEM parts. My local brake specially store ordered these for me. Now I need to do the rear set. I will keep an eye on the rotors.
I put Mintex rear pads on my ML500. Much less dust but squeals on slow stops. The squealing reduced after a few thousand miles, but did not stop. I asked for brake paste, but I also see there are shims that can help.
I later had the dealership put MX847 Wagner pads and new OEM rotors on the front (~45k). I bought the pads at RockAuto.com. The dealer did the install and added the rotors and sensors.
So far front brake dust is good, brake feel and stopping are normal. Even the squealing is reduced a little, perhaps the rear brakes were doing some more of the work before.
I like the Wagner pads enough that I shall use them on my ML320 next time around.
Thanks to all for your imput. I ordered the thermo-quiet pads for my ML and my Porsche. I installed the Porsche pads today and the squeal was eliminated. The last two Porsche dealer pad replacements were expensive and very noisy. I decided to take 1.5 hours and do it right. I'm now ready for the ML since I had to replace the fronts at 17500 and the dealer charged me $280. Rock auto sent the pads for $47.
Several years ago, I put Thermoquiet pads and rear brake shoes on my old Jeep Cherokee, which had unbelievably bad brakes especially noticable when pulling a trailer. The results were remarkable so when my son's ML needed front pads, Thermoquiet pads were installed and they are excellent. I just ordered sets for my ML and 911. As far as I am concerned, they are the way to go.
