easiest solution is the itrip availible through the apple store. it is a radio broadcast unit that can be programed to any availible frequency and best of all runs off the units own battery. with a range of up to twenty feet on a good charge, i find it the least invasive into the truck and most pratical.
BTW, I installed the hardwired FM modulator that Darkman posted a link to above, and I am very happy with it so far. We mostly use it on long trips. I will replace it if I can get a DB2 interface like the one above or, hopefully, a Monster iCruze if they ever release one. However, I won't spend more than ~$200-250.
RE: Does anyone use an IPOD MP3 PLAYER ON THE ML AND HOW CAN YOU CONNECT THE IPOD TO THE CAR STEREO
I started out trying many variants of the iTrip as mentioned above. All of the FM transmitters were totally usless to me. I live in a large city with many radio stations, it was just too noisey for me. Also, the antenna in the ML is in the rear window and that puts it fairly far from the transmitter up front. A hard wired FM modulator is the best bet if your looking to have all the wires hidden and keep the OEM radio.
Tape adaptors work well. I used one for a while. Stick with a brand name one. Look at the pics in my profile to see waht that looked like.
I finally replaced the original head unit with an aftermarket one. The sound quality through the line input is very good. It was not hard to replace the radio, I used the wiring diagrams provided by the good people of this forum.
Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

I found the FM transmitters to be useless as well. Send me a prepaid return postage bubble envelope and you can have a free iRock to try it out.
I got a cassette adapter and ran the wire behind the faceplate. I can't play any cassettes, now...but that's OK.
The jack peaks out near my right knee and has enough length to allow the iPod to sit in the lowwer cubby while attached to either 12v outlet if needed.
Not perfect, but it works. The sound is actually very good.
