Brush bar replace lower engine cover?

Does the OEM brush bar with skid plate replace the normal plastic lower engine cover? I have a 2000 ML430 with an OEM brush bar and no lower engine cover. I just was to confirm this is the proper setup since I am the second owner.

I forget...let me crawl under the car tomorrow and check... but if I remember correctly, there is a plastic sheet under the engine and then there is a skid plate attached to the brush bar.

OEM bar could've come without skid plate, and the previous owner removed the plastic cover. No bid deal, just ge a new skid plate, well worth it,
