srs, airbag off lights on and off

new in the club, been reading your articles for a while. they have been very helpful.

about the lights, went to dealer and they told me that it was the child seat sensor on the passenger seat $250 for part and $300 for labor.

has anybody fixed this problem themselves?

or know where can i get the part so i can do it myself?[:(]

RE: srs, airbag off lights on and off

Before you spend anything on the SRS problem and if you haven't already done it, check the electrical connection under the front passenger seat. One of my big-foot kids dislodged the connection, fortunately, while the vehicle was still under warranty. So it was remedied at no cost to me other than a little embarassment that I'd not done something as basic as checking connections.

After the tech had secured the plug, I am not aware if it was necessary for him to turn off the Malfunction Indicator Light using a diagnostic instrument. Like some of the other MILs, the SRS light may have extinguished itself immediately after the fix or, after a few engine start/stop cycles.

Good luck.

RE: srs, airbag off lights on and off

i have started to take apart the passenger seat and order the part. the dealer charges about 600 dollars and i am not about to pay it, i ordered the part for 185 dollars.
i am just waiting for the part tommorow i will assemble it and hope that it is fixed.

it's not that hard to take the leather cover off.

all for $185.
the connector was fine, but thanks for the tip. i will keep you guys posted

Back in Mar. 2006 you asked the very same question on the very same issue. It's either you didn't repair it then or the sensor has failed again.
