I have a question regarding catalytic converter warranty
for 99ML320. I know that Federal warranty for emission control is 8/80K miles but CA & MA have different warranty. I don't have the manual in front of me right now but the manual states to the affect for CA & MA emission warranty: 2/24K for performance or 7/70K for emission. My truck has 76+K miles and has a crack cat. conv. on the right side. If the CA warranty supersede the Fed warranty then I'm toasted.
Wolfgang, can you clarify the different between the Fed. and the CA & MA emission warranty?
Thanks,
Jay
PS. I have picture of the crack if anyone interested that I can post it later when I get home.
The best thing to do is read your manual. What you will find is that EVERYONE (including those in CA and MA) are covered by the Federal warranty. In addition, those that are registered in CA or MA have ADDITIONAL coverage for 7 years/70,000. Since you have 76,000 the CA and MA are no longer available to you, but you are still covered under the Federal warranty. Call now and schedule an appointment before you hit 80,000.
So you are saying that in CA and MA the Cat warranty is 15 yrs or 150,000 miles (from date In Service) whichever comes first ?? If thats true - its damn good !!

tiger2doll....HELLO...McFly......how in the world did you ever get that.
Read the manual. You will find that CA requires that vehicle manufactures warranty certain parts of the emission systems for 7 years/70,000. The CA warranty covers some additional parts beyond the Federal Warranty. If you live in CA, after 7 year/70,000 expires, then only the parts listed in the federal warranty are covered until 8 years/80,000.
Now I get it - in your earlier post it said in Addition CA & MA have ------. So I simply added the 2 - guess I was wrong. Thanks for the clarification.
