It seems like we are all waiting for the 06ML to show up. Anyway, while waiting, here are a few

"did you know" topics not mentioned in the manual that I'd like to share!!!(probably true for MY02+, I know it's not true for the E Class)

Locking
Did you know that
a) you can lock the truck and not activate the alarm? Close driver's door and trunk (must do this!!!), close all other doors except one (passenger's preferably), press the manual door lock button on center console, shut the open door and all doors will lock but the alarm will not be activated. You need this if you ever have the truck on a ferry boat, or any other situation in which the alarm would sound due to any rocking motion.
b) If you try above with the trunk open, the trunk lock will not be activated
c)Ditto on b) with the driver's door open

Shifting
Did you know that the ML sounds a faint "beep" as the tranny shifts from 1-2? Who cares?

Tranny
Did you know that "lifetime fluids" really mean "change them in the 50K-70K mile interval? I think most of us know this one.

B Service (pre MY05)
Did you know that tire rotations are included in B service - it's not really a dealer option. don't as where I got the information, just believe it!!!

General Service
Did you know that if in warranty, your brake fluid and coolant change (recommended every 2 and 3 years, respectively) are free only if performed with either an A or B service. Otherwise, you pay for it!!!

Cracking Noise
I guess we all know that lubing the bushings to eliminate that cracking noise isn't the solution - yeah, I tried to tell the tech this and he still went ahead and did this. Two weeks later, the truck is cracking at any yaw motion. I won't even bother to take her back - it'll be gone soon, thank goodness!!!

MY06 - W164
Did you know that at this moment you can't put in an order for a ML500. Production has been stopped - I believe due to the intro of the W164. Initially, it was scheduled for Feb. 05, but who knows???

My Invisible and Elusive ML500
Did you know that this loaded Sport ML500 is supposed to be here tomorrow. Why don't I sound excited? Well for the past 2.5 months my dealer has said the same thing, so I'm not holding my breath!!!

For Sale
BTW, I do have a set of Black Manick Step bars for sale. Like New, took them off in anticipation of my yet to arrive ML500. Real cheap, make me an offer.

Cosmetics
Did you know that those 3M clear plastic paste ons really work great - I had one on my rear bumper and what a great "scratch terminator"

Drew
Did you know that he got sucked into a blackhole several months ago.

Brain fart
Did you know that I have no idea why I decided to post this stuff? The sound like pseudo questions with no "?" Maybe I'm bored, yes I am!!! But it seems like the entire board is bored waiting for the W164. Have fun fellas, I'll be back tomorrow with pics, I HOPE!!!

Ofcourse, you're welcome to add on to this.

Did you know that he got sucked into a blackhole several months ago.
From a 9/9/04 email from Drew to me ...

Quote:
I'm finally back after a bit longer of a trip than expected. I'll figure things out and get back to you ASAP.
This email has to do with a parts order I paid for, but returned to Drew in May '04 for a refund. I couldn't believe he would jerk me around for 5 months. Your "black hole" theory seems more plausible!

Or, maybe he got whacked?

Just an observation.

As an observer approaches a black hole, time slows down for him. If the observer reaches the 'Event Horizon' of a black hole and survives the incredible forces and gets absorbed by the black hole, time ceases to exist for that observer. Symptoms may indeed indicate that he has fallen into a black hole... [:)]

I've got to call BS on this one [:)]. I really listened to mine today, and there was nothing!

Again gotta call BS on this one. The service manual does not include the coolant & brake fluid change as included items, although it does recommend it. I've had to pay for mine, even when it was done with a service. Maybe your dealer is nice to you!

I don't think there is general agreement this is good for the ML.

Daniel, your sig says you have a 01 ML430. Darkman's ML is a 02+. Maybe 02+ owners can weigh in - policy / features may have changed?
