Someone bumped into my ML500's add-on running board I think - result, it needs to be replaced. And two weeks later, no parts yet "as they have to come all the way from Germany". Yeah right, 8 hours flying takes more than two weeks. Seems to me that the Benz people need to start living in the 21st century!
That sucks, but, they ship the pieces by ocean, and usually the pieces are held at the dock. for an optional item, it's unlikely every dealer keeps it in stock. I'd reccomend finding another dealer, someone's got to have one on hand.
Well I am sure you are right, but surely it is the car manufacturer's duty to have enough spares on hand to keep their cars running... two weeks' wait (and maybe more - all I know is that it is at LEAST two weeks) is just not good enough!

Another point to consider. a running board does not leave you stranded! I would doubt that any manufacturer would see a great sense of urgency for bodywork. I know that it must suck to see the damage, but and I hate to say this, you can still drive the vehicle.
I am not sure if your 2000 uses the same running boards as a 98-99. If so, cancel your order and just get a whole new set for about $450 from Potomac German or *.
YOu are right of course. But it rattles, and rattles very annoyingly.
Plus, I am in HOng Kong this week and they had the car in from Monday AM for this - so Friday afternoon they call my wife and say they did not have the parts. What good is that - shows no planning, plus now I need to miss the car during a work day (I am about to return home).
