How to fix bumper scratches

Someone did this deep scratch to my rear bumper (see attached picture). Probably he or she was pulling in or out of the parking spot.
I would appreciate any help on how to fix it.
Thanks everybody.

RE: How to fix bumper scratches

the "rule" so I am told, is if your finger nail can get a grip on the scratch, it is off to the body shop.

However, you might be able to build it up with layers of either touch up paint/pen and than use som mid to fine polish. There is a plastic polish called NOVUS, I have used it with great results.

remove what you can with T-cut then fill with finishing paste then apply touch up paint, personally i don't worry about these things because it always happens but the best/cheapest job is through private not dealer

Are you sure what you see is not the material (rubber/plastic) transferred from their bumper? If it is, obviously you can just rub it out.

Else you can try two ways:

One: use touch up paint in multiple layers and try wet sand, rubbing compound and polish to smooth it out.

Two: professional body shop.

STHU
The black scratch you see in the picture is where the paint has come off totally. So it is not dirt or so,
it is the bare plastic of the bumper[:(]

RE: How to fix bumper scratches

I took our ML to Airport Collision Center in Manassas and they did a great job. It was for the front bumper. I saw them doing touch up on Ferrari and Porsche, so I figured they are competent(sp) enough to do our ML. [:D]
