DIY O2 sensor replacement, check engine light reset,

I did my own self repair to replace the O2 sensor because the failed emissions report indicated that was the problem. Does any1 know how much trouble it is and the cost to have dealer reset the computer? I read that I can just take off the negative terminal and that will do the magic but would i be able to take it in right away for an emissions recheck or must i drive X amount of miles to make it "ready" for testing? The deadline is Aug. 1 so i don't have much time at all. PLEASE HELP!!!
