70,000 Mile Service...

It is that time - Anyone have any idea how much this is going to set me back?

My warranty expires in 1 month, but damnit nothing is wrong!

RE: 70,000 Mile Service...

Figure on plugs (about $400), new fuel filter (maybe another $400) plus B service so that puts you on the far side of $1k.

Check catalytic mufflers

Your basic warranty has already expired due to milage, but there is still coverage on the catalytic mufflers. There have been many reports of cracks developing in the converters. These are very expensive to replace so have them checked while they are still covered by the emissions warranty.

Also have the brake fluid and coolant changed every two or three years to avoid costly repairs in the future.

RE: 70,000 Mile Service...

Thanks guys - Actually it was Starmarked when i bought it so I am under the limit as far as anything going south..

But damn.. $400 for spark plugs seems outrageous, but I guess I shouldnt be surprised :-)

I'll get them to check the cat in any case..

Thanks again..

Actually,

you have 16 plugs at $8-$10 each so you have $128-$160 in plugs alone. Figuring 2 hours of labor at $100+/hr you are at $328-$360+. The problem area is the drivers side bank. The tech that changed mine had to remove the wheel and wheel well liner to get to those plugs and that took a bit of time. Maybe there are new methods now but I doubt if you will get by for less than $300.

I thought there are 12 spark plugs on ML320
2 per cilinder
so its 6 cylinder engine

I see the Bosch plugs for $5.83 at http://www.importec.com - so that it comes out to $69.96 plus shipping for 12 plugs.

http://www.rockauto.com also has quite a selection of plugs, starting with a $1.21 Autolite, NGK, Champion etc. Aren't NGKs OEM?
