I have an ML350 with the "premier" Bose system, which sounds "unpremier" and I'm dying to upgrade. Does anyone know where the amp for the Bose system is located? I'm looking at bypassing this amp and putting in my own amp and new speakers. Are they separate amps for the front and rear spkrs or just one amp? And what abt the sub under the driver's seat - is there an inbuilt amp in the sub's box?
RE: Location of Amplifier for "premier" Bose system??
Subwoofer is under the seat. I am assuming that this is the amplifier that you are looking for. It is on the drivers side bolted to the floor. Aust look under the seat.

Amp for Bose speakers are build into the speakers it self. It's 1 mono amp per speaker.

Do you have any further information to support that statement? Because I was looking through the wiring diagrams and they don't seem to agree... but then again, I could be reading them completely wrong.

It depends on where your vehicle was manufactured for (e.g. US-spec), and the model year.
If you have code 810 sound system, the main amplifier should be under the dash and is accessed by removing the cover below the instrument panel on the left side (regardless of left hand drive or right hand drive).

I am in the process of replacing my system and the Bose amps ARE not on the speakers, nor in the doors, nor under the dash. It appears that the amps may be incorporated with the sub. Will post after pulling the sub.

On a MY2004 US-spec ML with the Bose system, the amp is connected via the D2B fiber optic bus and is located on the firewall (IIRC, just above the driver’s footwell). AFAIK, you won’t be able to just swap out this amp. If you are really unhappy with the Bose system, your best bet is to completely replace it – head unit, amp, speakers and all. Note that removing the MCS will deactivate the D2B fiber optic system and thus disable Teleaid.

I've got my AVIC-D1 connected to the Bose amps that I still cannot physically locate but at least I am back up. No amp on my firewall in my US ML55
Your amp is located in the same place as the picure above shows. If its not then it has been removed or the AMG vehicle some how is not equipped with one.(I doubt that)
There is a foam liner blocking it.
Hope this helps. [:)]
