For a really big HP boost,

for less than the cost of a K&N filter you can get a genuine ML55 badge for the hatch!

aha !! That explains Mac's ML500 performance - maybe...

That's what Mac must have on the back of his ML500 to out run a Porsche 911 without even trying.

Cue .... Mac....

BTW Mac, notice you didn't reply to all the links I found on this site related to V8 versus V6 brake wear.

Guess you've put me on ignore...

Not many posts from you these days either, shame because I always found your posts entertaining - maybe you're just in 'lurking mode'.

Regarding K & N filters - I had wrongly assumed the filter in question was a cone type, not drop-in, hence my assertions.

The original poster did not specify what sort it was and given that the MB OEM filters are so inexpensive and over sized I couldn't think why anyone would want to use a drop in K&N. Hence my assumption of a cone type being employed.

If you go to "Registry" and search for member "Mac", you'll see that he apparently irritated someone to the extent that his post count says "Disabled".

I presume that a post of his was such that it was deleted by an admin and earned him a PM/e-mail requesting his future compliance with BenzWorld's terms of membership as a condition to have his account re-enabled.

oh - that's sad....

because it takes all types / opinions for a forum to flourish and be interesting / entertaining.

Although I take issue with some of Mac's comments, I personally certainly wouldn't want him excluded.

Maybe we need to start a poll to get him re-instated !!

On the positive side, you now know what you have to do to beat an ML500
