ML Engine Hesitation Problem (again)

I haven’t read posts for a while and now I am trying to catch up with this problem. I experience this engine hesitation (about 5 sec rough engine idle when rolled into full stop) in average once a month (not driving my truck to much though). I did call dealer and they don’t know anything about it (or they pretend anyway). One service manager just told me that if I have several keys on my key chain that could cause this problem (??). And frankly I do have bunch of keys (three car keys plus two of other kind), but have a hard time to believe in his explanation.

The bottom line is they said if they couldn’t reproduce the problem they won’t do anything about it. I am almost certain that doing test drive with them will get us nothing. So I am hoping somebody already fixed this and can tall us what part (if any) has been replaced.

Regards,
Alex

Try using your spare key,Your FOB might be intermittent, and take all those keys off your key ring. The weight from the extra keys can damge your ignition

That sounds like what happened to me. Beleive it or not, removing the extra keys on the ring solved the problem. I have not experienced that problem since. Good Luck

YES!!!!! ANOTHER GREAT EXAMPLE PEOPLE!!!

aco_coa

dont believe these 2 guys becuase they dont want to scare people off the forum and plus they dont want to admit to problems because OF resale issues they will have which i find very funny. THEY ARE SCARED THAT IF THEY ADMIT TO PROBLEMS PEOPLE WILL NOT BUY THEIR ML'S. HAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

anyway.....believe me I had the piece of sh*t ML350 and for 1 year i had to keep all of my repair orders so i would win my lemon law case against MB which took 20 days. my dealer changed the ME control unit and also they changed the MAF sensor which helped me win my lemon law case. finally after 1 year of dealing with the hesitation problem and i hired a lemon law attorney and in 20 days MB gave me all of money back minus $2,600 for mileage offset. I STRESS THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT!!! MB DEALERS AND MB CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT ADMIT TO THIS HESITATION PROBLEM. THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO GO AROUND THE PROBLEM AND THEY WILL TELL YOU A BUYBACK ISN'T AN OPTION. I'M A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF HOW THE LEMON LAW REALLY WORKS THOUGH. MB AND MY DEALER BOUGHT MY ML BACK BECAUSE NOBODY COULD EVER FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY ML. THEY PLAYED STUPID FOR 1 YEAR.

IS MB SOMEONE YOU WANT TO INSTILL YOUR AND YOUR FAMILY'S TRUST IN BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT ADMIT TO LIFE THREATENING HESITATION PROBLEM? I ALMOST GOT INTO A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT WITH MY FAMILY BECAUSE MY ML STALLED WITH CARS COMING AT ME GOING 50 MPH! LIFE IS SOMETHING YOU DON'T PLAY GAMES WITH. MB THINKS OTHERWISE. $$$$$$$$$$$$

That is serious talk you had there...
Can you scan and post your service or case paper work? Blot personal data though...

Why are you so happy with someone's hesitation problem?

We understand that your ML350 was real bad example of MBUSI product but I still have faith in the German made products. Mercedes has been my family stable for many years. We know our MLs have their list of well known problems but we are here to help each other to get it fixed or ways to get it buyback. Just help out aco_coa with his problem instead of laughing and retelling your ML350 scary story. Thanks and try to have a nice day.

Though they fixed my dangerous hesitation problem by changing the fuel pump and fuel lines (in my case and maybe jointly with other fixes), I was in the same situation as you. I was, on several occasions, a sitting duck in the middle of high speed incoming trafic.. I had problems backing up, too, because the ML will hesitate/die half way through frequently..

It took the longest time for my ( in that time indifferent ) MB dealer to fix my problem ( MBUSA customer service was useless ), which is one of the reasons I have a very bitter flavor in my mouth.

I have not had any more hesitation problems since it was fixed(had some others problems though), but now at 83,000 miles, I am beginning to enjoy a nice and stable ML with only very minor things breaking.. I hope now that after saying this something major will not break down on my ML.

I agree with you that people who ridicularize/ simplify MB/ML problems/owners do not provide any real value to MB or to real ML owners. Only mediocre companies will choose to hide issues and problems, while good & succesfully growing ones will recognize and fix their problems as soon and honestly as they can and will be greatly recongnized and admired by all of their owners for their efforts. MB was like this and hope it will not stray from it's original values..

Good luck to everybody with this problem and maybe this honest forum can find the real problem behind the hesitation issue.. Like the sticky gas pedal and other small but annoying problems we solved ourselves during the last past years..

AC
