but I cannot figure it out. This is a coin holder but dont know if it will fit on my 02`ML320.

Hi,
that's easy. Open the middle compartment betw. the two front seats and there you'll find in the front at the inside two rails where the money holder fits in.
(The part for the coins should be to the right.)
At the front of the coin holder, you'll see two bars. These two bars will fit into the rails.

If it's designed for the ML, I'm guessing it goes into the slot where we now have the door hiding the ashtray (in otherwords, it's probably for a 98 to 01 model). I believe that it is removable in case you're still interested.

it does not fit. I tried different angles, no luck.

Wrong compartment,
not in the ashtray.
It goes in the big one, below the armrest.

That is not the ashtray. That`s the middle compartment below the armrest.

That is the wrong compartment. It should go inside the armrest when you lift it up. It is however for 2001 and earlier model.

I also tried the inside of the armrest still no luck. There is no groove that fits into the back of the coin holder. See pic.

Looks like it's the Pre-01 only part then ....

we have this near the top latch of the flimsy armrest.

doesnt your 02 have a coin holder on the armrest? mine does so should yours?
