WTF, changed an oil on my friends 2000 MB ML320 and now it's all screwed up. It drives good for about 5 min. after that it starts acting up. For Example: after about 5 min. when car in the drive and you press the gas pedal it just revs and it doesnt move or when you press the gas pedal alittle bit it just jumps off the line like you floored it. WTF. Tried to reset the computer (take the poistive off the battary), nothing. WTF is going on anybody has similar problems?
OH Hell I damn near fell out my chair laughing at this post.
I laughed even harder when I read his reply after some told him he might have drained the tranny..

Quote:

I read the follow-ups on that post and they're absolutely hillarious.

Turned out his 6yr truck driver buddy actually drained the tranny fluid instead of the engine oil. What a funny mess!!!!

RE: Someone Drained the Tranny oil instead of engine oil

Great post, seems funny, but we have the most expensive SUV's , spend all our time making them better, care for them like kids, and then have a Friend change the oil?
A little like having your vet do a heart transplant

on late MB ML-series theres no way to fill it up again. It's closed loop system. The tranny oil is good up to 200k miles[B)]
Is this true? Our ML55 has 47k on it and I was just about to ask the dealer to change tranny fluid ... [:o)]

RE: ---

It's claimed to be "lifetime". Given the average life of a car from a consumer perspective is 100k (most US consumers won't tolerate a car with mroe than that mileage) some have chosen to have the dealer change the fluid at 75-100k miles. I'll probably do likewise - especially since I may have had some increased wear[:D].

RE: Someone Drained the Tranny oil instead of engine oil

Trans has sensors for abnormal wear or contamination, which are set to warn of change needed sooner than the service interval 100,000mi . Our shop does 50,000 mi changes, including my own.
You can buy a stick to check the level from the dealer for about $18US. Fluid is also available in quarts from them. If anyone wants the number on the stick to check it, mail me and I will send the part number and fluid number.
