Did you have a fuse on that circuit?
I would have thought a fuse should have prevented that from happening??? Wow, hope it didn't melt any other wires further back!!!

Fuse ???
Looks like you had a close call - didn't the fuse lift ? Always assuming the feed was adequately fused in the first place :-)

RE: ML almost caught fire!!
Are those the Hella Fog Lights from Performance Products? I purchased a set and within 2 months they crossed and blew the fuse. PP said that this was a common and known problem. They said that the quality control in the assembly was pretty poor and that sometimes in the assembly process Hella forgets to put the insulation on the wire.
PP was very good at quickly exchanging out the lights and giving me a new set. Before I installed them, I opened the lights to make sure that the wire insulation was in place. Then, I attempted to seal the lights with electrical tape. It has now been 6 months and no problems.
Since your fuse did not blow, I wonder if what you experienced was from heat.

They are from PP
and about 1.5 years old. From other posts on this board, i insulated the wires with elect tape and have had no problems until now.....
