brother's 2002 ml320 changing brake pads, midas or car-x??
my brother wanted me to post this question on getting his brake pads changed. what's everyone's experience in dealing with midas and car-x. should he avoid them? is it safe to have the brake pads installed there? any precautions?

since ML is sensitive to squeel if you don't use the correct brake paste or shim. I double Midas has the perfect item for the ML. ML320 brakes are single piston caliper system so it's not a difficut thing to do. If that Midas is willing to use parts that you provide them then I would say it's ok to let them do it. I'd like to keep the great braking feel of the stock system as aftermarket pads might require more pedal effort. My porterfields pads are light it dust but the compound makes it harder pedal feel.

thanks in advance!
Depends on the car. If the car has ABS/ETS/ESP sensors, etc, don't take it to a cheapo shop. I made that mistake once - they broke a ESP sensor and forgot to bleed the brakes so when I left the shop I had no pressure.
