i went with H and R spring costed $166
lowered my ml by 3 to 4 inch just by changing the spring
i purchased the spring from Tirerack
shocks i went with beirstein they are really good
costed me $316 for 2 rear shocks
i got them
importec.com
labor did it myself
changing spring is not faint of heart and i had a special equip for the spring tension
it will cost you $75 per shock and spring to change
two good priced options are the eibach's 1.4" and the h&r's 1.25". you can get either at tirerack.com.
i would post picks of the drop on my truck but having problems posting. i can probably email pics to you though. the drop is gonna be slightly more than indicated up top... cause of the settling factor. but its not gonna be 4 inches. there are a couple of factors to keep in mind when dropping the ml.
1. round or flat springs
2. how to adjust torsion bar...correctly.
good luck, it is definitely a nice upgrade to do... let me know if i can help.

Gary, how can you describe the difference in driving and performance before and after lowering?
Thanks [:)]
