Has anyone changed their front turning signals

I was wondering if anyone has attempted to remove the orange plastic insert in the 1998-2001 M-Class headlights. It is there so that the front turning signals reflect more with it, but I want to change the orange bulb to blue and it looks retarted with the insert in there. I know it is possible but am curious to know if it looks good, or if there is an easier way. Already have the side and rear blinker blue. thanks a lot

oh! the cheaper way, "drill out" the orange, pretty ghetto but works fine if you take your time.

Welcome to Benzworld.

I'm going to assume that you are in the US because of the question. In the US the DOT requires a vehicle to have the amber color on the front corners of the vehichle.

The amber reflector is glued to the headlight assembly. You might damage the assembly trying to remove it. However, if you do choose to remove it you might have trouble getting yoiur vehicle inspected if your state has vehicle inspections. Worse yet you could receive a fine from the police if pulled over for some infraction.

The Euro-light assemblies may work but you will have to use the use turn signal lamp socket as the US uses a two filliment bulb where the Europeans use a single flash only turn signal.

I hope this helps.

remove all the bulbs and ballasts, bake your lamps at 325 degress in the oven for about 10 minutes, check if the glue between the seems are loose, if not bake them for another 5 minutes.. once they become loose, pry the lens and housing apart with a screw driver.. then remove the amber lens!

buy some good silicon sealant and seal the lamp back together..

personally, i would just leave it alone.. i baked my freinds civic headlamps, worked fine. but that lamp was cheap and easy to replace if you screw up =)
