Hey All.. New to the board as I own a BMW E39 (5 series) so usually on the Roadfly board Anyway, the wife and I just purchased a very clean lo mileage (29K) Azure Blue w/Tan 2001 ML320 w/Sport Pkge, 17"'s, Xenons, CD Changer, etc. (this is her ride).
Anyway, the car has 29K miles, so still under factory warr., it was purchased at an indy dealer. My question is, the dealer suggested/offered Warrantech as an aftermarket warranty on the vehicle, but we decided to do some research first before shelling out the ~$2K for it. And since we have 30 days why not??
Anyone use Warrantech or http://www.autowarrantiesdirect.com I found on the 'net? I understand that Mercedes will honor these warranties??...
Will post pics as soon as we get it back from the dealer. The front passenger side seat bottom was cracked and the glovebox was very loose, so all being replaced/fixed..
RE: Noob, with aftermarket Warranty questions.. :)
I bought an aftermarket warranty from API and my mercedes dealer accepts that no problem. The only thing is there is a 100 dollar deductable when I use it and I usally have to wait a couple of hours after they fix it for them to get the money but so far I have had no problems. I think it was 2000 and have it up to 80,000 miles or 4 years.
RE: Noob, with aftermarket Warranty questions.. :)
i'm with Continental Warranty. and i also have to pay a 100 dollar deductible. but when i got my truck serviced (MB dealership) for a power steering pump replacement, they would only approve a little over 400 bucks (dealership = $600'ish)! they said that they base their price on what my state "would charge on an average".
i think i'm getting screwed. [:(!]

Warrantech is a good warranty. I have dealt with them for years, but like any insurance company if they lose money they will be out of buisness. I saw one go under the year before last and leave one of my customers screwed. You have to check the health of that insurance company. I would try calling my car insurance company and see what they offer.
As far as getting things covered under them, they all wiggle to try and ecsape by excluding them, Ie.
calling a throttle body emmission equipment part instead of a air iduction or intake system part.
If you have a mechanic , take him the policy you are considering and have him review the coverage. I had one warranty that basically almost excluded everything. (this was the worst I've seen and was sold to a BMW buyer by a Infiniti dealer)
