Hi folks: need help w. power window failure

Hi- The driver's power window is stuck in the down position. My wife mentioned it went up sluggishly yesterday..so of course I try it - put it down and now it stays down. (checked the fuse=OK)other windows OK.
How do i know if it the switch or motor, how do i remove door panel etc..need to at least get it up.

Anyone have any input? how to troubleshoot, fix, cost, link to good thread - etc..would be much appreciated.!!!

(Tried searching for a thread - kept timing out.)

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks - Doug

RE: Hi folks: need help w. power window failure

samething happen to me, i called the roadside assitant and they told me how to get it up. You have to push the driver button towards the right side and lift at the same time and it will eventually go all the way up. The problem is there is a defect with the switches. its one of those problems with ml. i went thru 2 of them, good thing i was covered under warranty.

Just toggle the switch real good in the position to raise the window. Replace the switch when you get a chance[8)]

Doug, is your ML still under warranty? If your window switches have not been replaced before, you will still have the original switch pack, which had some issues.

honestly this is a very very well known problem with the ml's, if you take it to your dealer and let them have it, i am sure they will take care of it complimentary.

Since you are asking how to do it, I will guess you are out of warranty.. Then

Since you are asking how to do it, I will guess you are out of warranty.. Then you should just go and get the window/lock switch module from the dealer or any other place and replace it yourself if the dealer does not want to fix this well known quality/design TSB issue.. I think it is around $70.00 for the part number...?

It's easy to replace the switch module and make sure you get the updated window switch module since there is a new part number where they hopefully fixed the switch issues.

Part was 47.86 at the Mercedes Dealership in Va Beach, took approx 30 mins to replace, I believe someone has the instructions here on BW.
