In-dash CD player for navigation ??

I have an in-dash cd player (OEM) installed in my 'O2 ML 320. Would anybody know if that can be used for navigation? I am just curious - Would the MCS pick it up if i threw in a navi CD into the CD player instead of a standard music CD ?

You can purchase a cd or dvd based nav drive and should be a pretty easy DIY.

Of course, with the help of these great people on this board :-)

So is the drive that reads the navigation CDs physically different from a plain cd player ?

Secondly, on an '02 is there any other hardware besides the player that is required for navigation - like a special antenna or some such..

I have another installation publication from Paul H. Dick for the install. Let me know if you need it.

I believe for 02 you just need the drive as it has the antenna and splitter for MY02.

I just did this mod about a month ago and I must say one of the coolest mod I have done so far! ;-)

I would suggest on getting the DVD Nav instead of the cd nav version.

You can also play music cd in the drive when your not navigating.
