3rd row seats retrofit on 2001 ML........

Hi guys,

I'm planning on doing this as the next mod for my ML. I have a question for people that has this option on their ML.

How much room does the 3rd row have? Is it mainly for kids for can an adult sit comfortably as well specially like in a long trip?

With 3 car seats in the back I'm in need of a 3rd row seats for some little extra room :-)

Thanks :-)
Mike

I suggest you go to your dealer and try it out. I have a different opinion than some of our forum members. Every person has their own definition of what's acceptable.

RE: 3rd row seats retrofit on 2001 ML........

Hi Mike,

I think the 3rd row seat is great for kids up to maybe 5'4" but after than I think it gets tight. You can't put an infant seat in the 3rd row. There just isn't enough room. Booster seats are fine though. You can't really even get infant seats in the 2nd row unless you keep them in the rear most position which gives very little leg room for the 3rd row passengers (less than 5'!).

I keep our infant seats for our newborn twins on the 60% seat. We normally carry six in the vehicle now but that means the front passenger seat is moved forward a little more. The right 2nd row seat has less leg room, and you can relalistically only use one of the 3rd row seats. It's tight but it works for us. We sometimes carry seven but only for short distances (less than an hour). Although with the older boys sitting in the 3rd row seat they can go for hours when I hook their GameCube or PlayStation to the VES ....!!!

Ed is right .... try it out for yourself at a dealership.
