I took my 98 ML320 to Autozone to find out why the check engine light had come on. Their machine said O2 sensor failure and some sort of transmission problem.
okay, Question 1: Where is the best place to get the O2 sensor? It is the sensor before the cat converter. Autozone quoted me $159.99. Benzbin has 3 listed, but I cant figure out which is the right one. The part # I got was 13782.
Q2: I just want to check the transmission fluid levels.....how do I get the dipstick out? Does anyone know where I can get the tool?
Thanks
Mike

Re the sensor, buy from a dealer and you will get the correct part. There are 2 O2 sensors in the ML. One for each bank of the engine. There is no trans dipstick in the ML. Don't you read your manual???
Mercedes claims that their 722.6 tranny is a maintainance free unit. So they just use a plastic plug to cover up the tranny oil filler pipe (found on the left side of the engine near the firewall). Only the dealer has a service "dipstick" to put it in. Do a search on a forum for the part number that you can buy from the dealer.
