Rotated my tires yesterday since it was above freezing.
I bought my ML used, with 42,000 miles, the brake pads looked recent. The LM now has 76,000 miles. The light came on to replace the pads about a week ago, so I figured I'd check whether it was front, rear, or both. The front pads are very thin (DUH), but the rear pads still look REAL good. I didn't measure them, but they look like they still have about 75% life left in them. Is this normal? I do alot of highway driving, and the brakes seem to work correctly, even on ice and snow. Any help would be appreciated.

yes, the front pad tend to wear out faster than the rear, 70-80% of braking done at the front so the rear pad will last longer than the front. Changing the front pad is easy..DIY and save some money. I know its cold there but you will be happy when you do it[:)]
