HELP!!!! Check engine Light

I went out yesterday and got the tires rotated and an oil change done on my 98 ML320. Later on in the day I noticed the Check Engine light had come on. The owner's manual says that it is a fuel system problem. Any ideas what I can check and how I can check it. I tightened the gas cap and checked the areas the oil change people worked. I really don't want to have to take it to the dealership. HELP!!!!!!!!!

RE: HELP!!!! Check engine Light

Check Engine light is turned on by any little thing that is unusual for your car, such as a gaz cap. Don't worry, it's not a big deal. You can go at your local garage and they'll plug your system to a computer and they'll know what's really going on. It's not necessary to go to the dealer.

You will need to check the stored codes on the OBC to determine the reason for the light. Any good MB mechanic will have diagnostic equipment to check the codes.

It could be a number of things, including over-filling the gas tank, a loose gas cap, the MAF sensor, an O2 sensor, etc.

Good Luck!
