Wolfgang has some W164 info <a href="http://www.whnet.com/4x4/w164.html" target=new>here</a>. Two new 6-cylinder diesel engines are mentioned (just for the Euro market?). One is 188hp, the other is 212hp. Torque should be huge.
The '05 E320CDI will be introduced in the US soon - is there hope for a diesel ML in the US?

The trade in I was offered on our 00' ML430 was pathetic - decided to keep it and eventually give it to my daughter to wreck. Will likely replace it with a Cayenne TT or VW Tourag V10 oil burner !
Doubt either of the above would be as fast as an ML500 though ;-)

Sadly, the quality and reliability of our VW Passat W8 has been pretty bad. VW seems to still have issues with electrical systems as the car is in the shop again for the ever present "check engine light". And I have heard similar problems from other Passat and Jetta owners. The vehicle has had numerous other problems as well that seem to be as much design related as quality issues and as a result this is our first & last VW purchase. The Toureg is an interesting vehicle, but I suspect considering the issues we have had with VW, it is going to be much more problematic than a ML.

Don't trip, We took a HUGE!!! Hit when we traded our 2003 Silver ML500 Inspiration for a Lexus earlier this year. The ML only had 6K miles and we took a $15K loss the Mercedes. I am confident to say, I've bought my last Mercedes.
