I have read questions about AMG's status many times here.

The AMG 560SEC was (is stil one of) my dream car, that's when AMG was still an independant tuner.

I cam across that very short and concise page on the history of AMG which might interest a few here (UncAl?)

Thanks for the post. I love the old 6.0 motor. Wasn't expecting to find another ML owner so interested in the 560SEC AMG too!

I would not kill for one, but I'd threaten and blackmail the owner of a fine specimen [:D]

Good article! Thanks for posting!

It seems MB is trying to re-kindle its racing roots these days. Case in point - the new R171. I understand the AMG version of the R171 will have a 5.5 litre engine! Woo Hoo!

I traveled to LA last year to take a good look at one.

Had talked over the phone, seen pictures, price seemed right after talking it down a bit, flew there ... and ... it was not in the shape that the pics had lead me to believe it was in. Came back empty handed. Still leasurely looking around, but as time passes, I'm less and less optimistic...
