Nice to see you too. We don't often see much of each other.

Post High Mileage ML's & Transfer Case

We are located in metro Detroit. Let me know if you are interested
Original owner of a 98'ML320 with 185k miles mostly trans-US & Canada highway mileage. Routine maintenance all DIY or MB dealer serviced.

I had the transfer case replaced 3 months after I took possession because the original started to make a clicking sound when under no load. Now the current one is making an aweful squeeking sound (like walking across an old wooden floor) when accelerating from a stand still. I had the tranny fluid flushed and filled at 170k. I did have the problem of getting out of first posted in other forums and MB mechanic said to routinely put it in/out of low to keep the solonoid from failing. I still have original battery. Replaced the window switches twice after I saw there is a DIY posted in the forums. Replaced MAF sensor and purge valve at about 65k and EGR valve at 165k. I plan on flushing the transfer case to see if that solves the problem but if not am interested in your offer. PM me if still interested.

Why was it "well worth it", have you gone a significant number of miles since then without failure of tranny or transfer case?
