I am about to install rear springs on a 02 ML500. BTW they are flat at the top and have a pigtail at the bottom. Questions: Do I need to replace shock on account of shorter spring? Are there any special tools required i.e. 21mm deep offset wrench; air impact tools?
RE: Eibach Springs on 02 ML500 Rear Suspension DIY
I read numerous reviews and talked to other who performed the mod that you are about to do. They all said that the ride was horrible after they lowered the back. Some folks indicated that there are some special shocks that are custom valved for the lower springs, and that if you get these shocks it dramatically improves the ride, but still stiffer. The two shops that I spoke to in the SF Bay Area both said that the shock were not avialable over the counter. So, just keep in mind that all of this is second hand info. Let us know how it goes.

RickT,
thanks for the heads up. I just cannot stand that jacked up look. The factory ride feels like a pick up on springs. It tows great but I only do that twice a year.
Worse case scenario, I will reverse the installation. I do have to say, the Eibach springs look like a class act.
