Darkreaper22, you are talking about two mergers with may years in between (if I understand your question properly), in any case, you need to get your brands straight:
I'll start in reverse order:

did Diamler buy MErcedes?

It's Daimler, since you're writing a paper, make sure you write the name correctly to not lose credit and credibility (I bet by now, you hate me for sounding like your father...)
Daimler could not have bought Mercedes, Daimler was Mercedes, or rather Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschat (DMG) owned the Mercedes brand and logo. Gottlieb Daimler built cars, and the Mercedes brand name came to exist after a customer (who was also a dealer of Daimler's creations, and who liked to race cars) Emil Jellinek, raced Dailer's cars, which he named Mercedes after the name of his (Jellinek's) daughter. The three pointed star belongs to Mercedes, a brand and log registered by Daimler and descendants.
Carl Benz built the the Victoria, a motorized tricycle, in 1983. Daimler closely followed with the first production car, the Daimler Velo in 1894, he was very good at designing engines, which he sold to other car makers who who use his engines in their own cars.
Benz' logo was the laurels, for excellence.
DMG
MERGED with Benz (the two men had a profound dislike for each other) on June 28, 1926. Worthy of note, the two companies had entered into an agreement already in 1924, for economic reasons, a previous merger attempt had failed in 1919
When the companies merged, so did the two logos, The Mercede Start was enclosed by Benz' laurels.

Did Mercedes buy Diamler-Chrysler?

Again, get the names straight. Daimler-Benz owned the Mercedes-Benz, and the merger with Chrysler created the new name, Daimler-Chrysler, which owns the Mercedes-Benz brand, and the Chrysler brand.
You should rather view this as a take over of Chrysler by Daimler-Benz. There is pending litigations concerning this, brought forth by Kirk Kerkorian a billionaire who owns a bunch of sticks and seeks 2 billion dollars in reperation because of the effect of what he contends was a take-over and not a merger on his investments. Kerkorian also owns well known companies like MGM...
Better do a bunch of research before you write your paper to get indisputable facts...
