| I doubt there's any "adjust switch" for reverse lights. Most auto trannies have a reverse lamp switch on the transmission itself. If that switch goes bad, it can be replaced. But in your case, it sounds like the switch is OK because you do get the lights on by playing with the shifter. The poblem most likely is with the shifter. In other cars, there's an ihibitor switch attached to the tranny (that's the switch that senses any gear position you're in). I bet that's where you're loosing contact - all this, assuming that Mb built the ML's tranny mechanics like most other cars that I know of. I don't know if I helped you any, but if you can have someone shift (motor off, of course) while you try to locate the movement of the shift lever under the car, you may nail the loose contact. Otherwise, take her into any good tranny shop. Good luck.
