just got *popped* for "no front plate"...

man, do i hate this kind of ticket. it's a california law now but they are not enforcing it to the fullest. best of all, i got it from a parking attendant at my office garage!

anyhow, when i bought my car it never came with front plates. does anyone know where (besides the dealer) i can get the front plate *holder*?

it's kinda like a bumper attachment that sits just behind the plate and elevates it a little. i have the front push bar and it's gonna sit a little low without this.

RE: just got *popped* for "no front plate"...

the parking attendant gave u a ticket!? damn, they're really strict over there. i didn't even know that parking attendants can do that.

here in reno, i got the same ticket for my acura (sometime ago) since i don't have a front license plate. when i went to pay the ticket, i just told them that i put my license plate back and they lowered the fine to 5 bucks.

i asked the officer about the ticket, and she said that i'll be given a ticket if my car was parked on the street -- metered or not, or if i was pulled over for a moving violation and the "POPO" decided to look around the car for more "damage". so if i was parked in a public/office garage i should be okay.

it's really a "no-biggie" ticket, IMO. that cop was just having a bad day and decided to share it with u.

goodluck.

I would be telling that parking attendant to mind his own f*cking business.

I happened to me in LA. It's only $25.00, sent the check and promised myself not to park in LA streets again. I still didn't put my front license plate.

RE: just got *popped* for "no front plate"...

he's actually a parking attendant/meter maid.

believe me... i was ready to talk some $&*! but i couldnt find him. i ended up talking to my cop buddy and he said for california, it's now a law. apparently they passed the bill to justtify the expenses they had to install these "red light" cameras in the intersections. so now, their going to give tickets to those without front plates...

i paid for the bail ($70) and am going to contest it to buy me time to get one of those front plate mounts and get a new set of plates.

I got the same a month ago in the ML before I switched plates...

Got bagged for $35 and it's a moving violation!! The cop actually was on the opposite direction and as soon as I passed him, he banged a u-turn and pulled me over! My court date is in February, it should be fine since I have no driving record and since those plates are not even on that car anymore [:)]

In California, it is a law but not a moving violation. It falls under equipment and no, motorcycles do not need front plates.

To solve the problem when parking on public streets, place the licence plate on the dash. the law says it must be displayed forward but does not indicate how. I've been doing this for eons and never had a ticket since. Go on line to the CA DMV and look starting under Section 4000 for the specifics.
