"Minor" ML problems cost $14000 to repair

My 2000 ML430 has had around 50 "minor" problems.

The cost of repairing these “minor items had the car not been under warranty adds up to more than $14000.

My ML430 was not available for 75 days in 4 years due repair of theese minor malfunctions.

Defect door actuators 12 x $350 = $4200
Rental (Mercedes) 75 x $49 = $3675
Other “minor items $6200

The calculation is not exact. A more precise cost estimate will be posted once I have gathered detailed information.

A simple extrapolation of this data indicates an additional $14000 - $18000 in maintainance costs for the next 4 years. Ouch!

Please click on the following link to see a list of the 50 problems.

You are not adding any info to your old message...Keep repeating the same message and it's beginning to sound like Communist propagendas(sp).

Just chill man..

Saying more about himself than his ML I think, e.g.,

Like, "pay attention to me," "I'm very important," "listen to me," "people want to know what I think," "here's my life's current peeve and I have a lot more I'd like to share so you will hear me out," and, "no I'm not annoying, annoying, annoying . . ."

P.S., I just realized, he does have so much to share: he's got more posts than me and he only joined last November. Imagine what a boring life he would have had if he bought anything else.[}:)]

You are not adding any info to your old message
Messages that I have posted include:
1. 50 ML problems in 4 years
2. "Minor" problems cost $14000 to repair
3. Car not available for 75 days in 4 years
4. 10 or more door lock or window problems in 4 years

People have been "bitching" me about the 1st message. Some people claim the 50 problems are very "minor".

The 2nd message is different from the 1st meassage. It's a response to the "bitching" regarding the 1st message. The "minor" problems add up to $14000 had the car not been under warranty.

The 2nd message is an attempt to prove that the "minor" problems constitute impairment in use and value of the car had they not been repaired.

1500 clicks prove that people are interested in the good, the bad and the ugly regarding the M-class.

I don't think TCPGV's opinions are any better or worse than what we all give here

every day. It's actually somewhat refreshing the way he's chosen to express our frustration with the ML in terms of $ and cents. $14K in warranty repairs in 4yrs is too much, I don't care what car it is. And, I think we all feel the pain. Just ask Ratso and some others. On the other hand, TCPGV, we still love this truck and I think you do too otherwise you'd have gotten rid of it by now. So, we live with the minor problems or get them fixed, we get Xtended warranty if we want or we trade the damn thing for the next ML if we can't take it any more. What we NEVER, NEVER do is to trade for a Lexus or Bimmer or Volvo or the damn ugly Cayenne (or Touraarreegg or whatever it's called). So go ahead and enjot the snow.

It might be time for him to add something constructive or just leave.

...cost of owning a Mercedes over every other generic gread box, PRICELESS.

Seriously though, I am just wondering why he hasn't sold it yet? And you have to take out the rental costs. You could have rented a Civic for dirt cheap. My dealer charges $12 CAD/day and I get a MB, but I have never had to pay yet.

Our MB Signature Class extended warranty, bring us to to 7 years/160,000km cost us a mere $1000 CAD. The dealer paid the other half due to problems with our '01 C240.

I think that this would have been a better solution for you since only 1 thing on your list probably would not have been covered: 21. Rotor in rear changed at only 27500 miles. Everything else is a warranty issue.

And this one, come on: 49. Car manuals taken from my car during service. This is nt a problem. They have to take out the manuals to stamp the sservice booklet. Things get missed, they are human.

Get over it or get a Honda. Rant over.

RE: "Minor" problems cost $14000 to repair

It is still a derivative of the original message...different packaging.

Just because there is a lot of interest doesn't mean it's a good thing -- notice intense interests at every gory car accidents on highways? People like to see arguments, confrontations, punches thrown left and right... that's human nature.

Other's opinion may vary, but to me any constructive criticism(sp) is a good thing, else it's noting but bitching (generally speaking, NOT name calling).
