that time of year again. my brakes make A LOT of noise. service rep says it is temperature related (must be right, because they are only noisy in winter) and that it is typical of mercedes vehicles.
any of you guys have this issue?
i never notice any other cars making this much racket, but everyone notices me.
Common, especially on V8s. I don't think it's so much temperature related as related to the salt on the roads causing the rotors to rust a bit. I've never had a serious problem since I started spraying a jet of water under the calipers every few weeks when I wash the truck. After that, it's important that you drive the truck around the block a few times to remove most of the water, otherwise the brakes will form rust spots which, while not damaging, cause the wheels to freeze up the next time you try to drive it and cause squealing until it's worn away.
