V12Uberalles reboot/expansion

Hello guys,
So I noticed that a lot of common problems on this forum, especially with the V12s, are referenced to the site V12Uberalles run by Brett Allison. The thing is, that site appears to be expired and down for a few years now. The only way to get to it now is to reference some sort of online cached/archived version of it. I've used it myself a few times, and I must say it has quite a bit of useful information. I have some experience in web design and development and it would be pretty simple for me to get that site going again (it would have to be under a new domain, since it appears V12uberalles.com is currently owned by someone else but is not being used. I wanted to get your guys' opinion on this. How would you feel about a reboot of V12uberalles? All credit would be given where it is due, especially to Brett. I would love to get in touch with him to discuss it, but I can't find any sort of contact info for him. I figured by doing this I along with the help of you guys on this forum can help to keep this site's information alive and updated, as well as expand on it with useful how-to's and other information collected on this forum as well as others in a one-stop-shop organized type of way. Please let me know what you think.

Reviving the old website will be a huge undertaking and I commend you for taking the initiative to do so.

Brett in San Diego (I think this is the screen name he used) is still contributing to BW, but he is far from regular.
I do not know when he sold his 97 S600, must have been way before I joined in.

Good luck,
Steve

PS You may want to check with Chris (Merc_S600) and see what he thinks of creating a sticky on this forum list. You may find some useful information in the archives, that could be organized and categorized for easier access. I've uploaded lots of pictures, but navigating through my threads is a nightmare...

The Name "V12Uberalles" is well known around so I would leave that as is also for respect to Brett S D .
If you sent Brett a Personal Message ,i'm sure he would help you bringing it all back up online , he is a cool guy to talk to .
It wasn't to long ago that he sold his S600 , forced .
Here is his site if you want to PM him .
Like Steve B mentioned ,we can make it a Sticky ,no problem , I'm always up for it when it comes to improve our Sticky section .:thumbsup:

I did some deeper digging , Here is Pcmaher profile >> Mercedes-Benz Forum - View Profile: pcmaher << ,last time he was on was 3-4 years ago .
Apparently Member "Perkunas" has a fair few pictures from his website since he also tried to recreate the V12Uberalles Site ,check link post# 5 .[emoji106]

It appears the site Perkunas tried to create (benzw140.com) is also no longer available. I will still try to contact him in case I can't get in touch with pcmaher.

I just remembered, there was a former regular on the forum, Youssef (?) (I may have butchered his name.). I can't remember his username. I think he was in the Boston area. I recall he had stated his intention to archive v12uberalles. I don't know if his efforts were tied to Perkunas. I responded to one of his posts saying I may be able to get my old files to him, but I don't recall ever getting a request asking for them.

I have messages pcmaher and Perkunas so I'm hoping one or both of them respond to me with some sort of good news. The biggest thing that would be needed is the images from most of the guides. I can recover pretty much everything else from Wayback

It might be worth going thru all assets here;

Code:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/www.v12uberalles.com/*
Internet Archive Wayback Machine

and try to salvage as much text/images as possible.
Its mainly when its robots.txt started to deny crawling the site/images,
that we will have problems in obtaining newer images. So, sort the list above
on ascending From.

Some, like these, seems to work;

http://web.archive.org/web/20060814102040/http://v12uberalles.com/FrontBrakes_17.JPG
http://web.archive.org/web/20120108105053/http://v12uberalles.com/MAF_rewire_jims_5.JPG

and I think you'll get images from more than one article.

Alright guys so I've completed all the main website pages as well as about 1/3 of the DIY articles including some with pictures so I went ahead and uploaded everything I've got. You can visit it right now at v12uberalles.rf.gd . Once I get all the articles done I will purchase a domain for the site (most likely v12uberalles.org). Let me know what you think of it so far. Please keep in mind its a work in progress still at this point.

Oh I was so busy with the other pages that I forgot about that. Thanks! Also, I would like to remind anyone that has already visited to refresh the pages in their browser next time they visit since it appears the browsers tend to pull the page from the computer's cache instead of the most recent one on the internet. Refreshing will override this.

Thanks Chris. I want to give a shout out to Brett because if he hadn't been kind enough to also post pretty much everything that he had provided to V12Uberalles also here in the DIY section of this forum then there would have been almost no pictures on the site, since many of the guides were made by him.
