I’ve noticed a gasoline smell around my car and saw a small puddle of gasoline on the ground where the right rear wheel was upon driving off today.
This is likely out of my repair ability, but can anyone comment as to their thoughts? Likely an inexpensive or expensive repair at an indy? Anything in particular might be involved?
Not that you were looking anyway, but DO NOT be tempted by the cheapie pumps on ebay.
Bosch is the way to go. AZ can be trusted.
I am suggesting it should be around 1.5 hours labor plus parts. Many indi's will install quality parts you supply. You supplying the pumps should save you a bunch of $$$.
Why not have an indi MB mechanic have a look before you spend a couple hundred on new pumps? It is possible it just needs new crush washers.
i had similar situation. gas smell, strongest on rear left side. it was cracked metal fuel line (the return one) right at 90 degrees elbow. i replaced only cracked portion with rubber fuel line and two clamps.
After they tell me what it needs, I'll ask for quote for parts and labor and then have them hold onto car until I can bring parts I order from AutohausAZ.

Yes the fuel pump and filter live inside that plastic surround. It's going to be pretty obvious where its leaking when you take it off and start the car. Fuel hoses can get old and split also.
I have the AutoHaus part on hand now; two fuel pumps and one fuel filter.
How many hours am I looking at for an Indy to install the parts?
Thanks!
