The plastic "T" is just fine if you replace it with a new one. It isn't the material, but heat and age that cause failure. Same goes for the plastic cam oilers. If you find a metal T, great. If not, replace with a new plastic one and do so again 60-80K down the road.
The car's a '95 500 with 102K on the clock. It's been in Palm Springs,CA all its life (desert conditions) so I was concerned about ambient heat & engine heat weakening the "T."
For my own peace of mind, I'll get a new one anyway.
I replaced mine at 160K. Still looked OK but I'm sure it was brittle. Same with cam oilers. The original plastic ones lasted about the same length of time. Would have replaced with metal but couldn't find any so plastic it is.
