I am going to be replacing rear discs and pads on my C140. Just wondering if I will need a caliper re-wind tool for the rear calipers or if they are normal like the fronts?
Also does removing the rear discs involve removing the hub nut or just the small allen bolt?
When you remove the caliper, just remove it halfway off the disc and cock it hard 45 degrees one way against the disc and then the other to force in turn, each piston back into their bores.
Sounds like you have worked on an Asian car that required the tool to screw the piston back into the caliper when the pads are replaced. I know Mazdas require this, as the wife drives a Mazda 6 that confused the heck out of me the first time I put read pads on it...
I am not aware of any Mercedes model that does this. You should be able to used a "C" clamp to press the pistons back into the bores on your car with minimal effort.
Be sure to check the level on the brake fluid reservoir before doing so in order to prevent brake fluid from spilling out in the event you push enough back to the reservoir to make it overflow.
